JDM imports, wagons and the 25-year rule

Japanese-market C36 sedans and never-US-sold C43 wagons are entering the US under the 25-year rule, which lets never-federalized cars in simply and cheaply; the V8 wagons are treated as the holy grail of the platform. JDM cars carry unique-to-Japan options (wood trim, ashtray badging, RHD-adjacent lighting) and repaints are common, but California registration remains a real question mark.
