Cabriolet tops rely on hydraulic cylinders, a pump, rams and a controller module that leak and weaken with age, producing hesitation and fluid spots. Repairs range from cheap DIY O-ring rebuilds to costly pump/module and new-canvas replacement; a boot/tonneau cover in the trunk being out of place can also disrupt top operation.
