Survivor originality versus restoration — 'only original once'

A strong current of opinion favors honest, unmolested survivors with worn original paint over cars redone to look new, on the logic that 'these cars are only original once.' Others counter that originality is everything only if the restoration, when done, is done properly rather than half-baked.
