Weak or dead A/C is one of the most common disclosed faults, and a leaking evaporator is the dreaded case because the fix is a dash-out labor job quoted at roughly $3,500-$5,000+. Many surviving cars have been (or need to be) converted from R12 to R134a, with owners noting the conversion blows slightly less cold and that leaks are almost universal on this vintage.
