Cylinder bore scoring is repeatedly flagged on the 2007-2008 3.4L Boxster S (M97), and much less so on the 3.2L S (2005-2006) and 2.7L base cars. A borescope inspection at PPI is the recommended way to detect it; the 987.2 DFI cars are considered largely free of the issue.
