The defining change for this generation is the move from a solid (live) front axle to a double-wishbone independent front suspension, which commenters overwhelmingly frame as a transformation from an arm-wrestling truck into a comfortable daily driver with far better steering and ride. A minority of purists mourn the loss of the SFA as a dilution of the G's pure-truck character, but most see it as a huge upgrade that remains just as capable thanks to the locking diffs.
